Setting up the Embroidery
Before doing anything, you need to place the embroidery attachment at the right place. The embroidery attachment has a channel that fits over the sewing machine. It is important to properly fix it on the machine before starting any sewing. You should be careful with the carriage whenever you are handling the machine. Attaching the carriage is very simple. Just slide through and make sure it locks properly before setting up other tools for the embroidery.
After inserting the carriage for the embroidery machine, the LED screen tells you whether the carriage is properly installed and whether it is ready to move into a starting position.
Selecting your Design
Once the carriage is properly fixed, the next thing is to select your design. Of course, the new model of the embroidery machine even has some designs that will be displayed on the LED screen. Here, you can select the most appropriate design for the clothing you want to make.
You can choose to create a whole new design instead of selecting any of the custom designs you see on the LED screen. If you are a novice with the embroidery machine, it will be better to select one of the customized designs already created for you. This will help you learn better and faster.
Check to see whether the embroidery foot is properly installed. If you are installing for the first time, you need to make sure the embroidery needle is tightly in place since the needle will be moving up and down the material. If it is not properly in place, it can slip out and may likely break the needle or cause other damage to the embroidery machine.
Placing the Embroidery
Loosen the knot around the pin holder and slide the embroidery foot over the screw and tighten up. Squeeze the lever at the back of the embroidery foot as it snaps into place. When it is properly positioned at the right place, you will definitely feel it as it snaps with a slight sound.
As you tighten the foot, it pushes up a bit and stays in an upright position along with the needle. Next is to thread the button and place it in the right position before you start sewing. You can click on the space below the needle to remove one of the thread buttons.
Placing the Hoop
After that, you have to put the hoop into place. Under the hoop, there is a metal base with two notches. The two notches fit properly into similar notches attached on the carriage. These two sides are placed together and hooked properly after placing the hoop under the needle. There are different techniques for placing the hoop on the carriage; however, the most convenient way is to first place the hoop under the needle and the pressure before attaching the hoop to the carriage.
To place the hoop under the needle, make sure that the needle and the pressure foot are up; and then roll the material beneath it. To release the hoop when you are done, there is a tag at the side of the carriage you need to pull up. This is basically the proper way to set up the embroidery on the Brother SE400 machine.
Learning how to use the embroidery machine is quite easy. It does not require any professional training to begin your first work with the machine. As long as you follow the above guideline and make use of the information provided on the LED screen, you will be able to create your own design and perform any embroidery task with ease.
