Types of Epilators
There are majorly three kinds of epilators, designed to concentrate on different regions of the body.
The Rotating spring types of epilators were most popularly used for uprooting the hair from legs. This one worked on the mechanism of a spring coiled in the head of the epilator. As the head moved, the spring uprooted the hair from the skin. However, this one became out of use as it caused excruciating pain on the skin.
Rotating disc epilator, on the other hand, were considered appropriate for regions like arms and legs. As the name says, this machine worked on the basis of a rotating disc which would pluck away the hair follicles it came in contact with on the skin. However, because of the pain and high inflammation effects, this one was considered inappropriate for use on sensitive areas like face, underarms and bikini. As a result, soon the production of this kind of epilator curbed, thereby resulting into the massive production of the third kind, namely- the tweezers epilator. Example of rotating disc are epilator Philips HP6401 and Braun Silk Epil Female Lady Shaver
The closed-grip tweezers based epilator is the newest kind of epilator seen in the series of epilators. This one is best exemplary of modern technology as it is designed keeping in mind the sensitivity of a woman’s skin and the various angles and turns in her body. The machine essentially comprises of metal plates, better known as the tweezers, which are held together on the head. As the head is rolled over the skin, the tweezers finely grip the hair follicles, and gently uproot them without causing much agitation to the skin. Panasonic ES-WD51-P and Braun 7681 Silk-Epil 7 Xpressive Pro Epilator are examples of closed-grip tweezers based epilator
Of all the kinds, this model is the best as it causes the most effective hair removal, with special focus on smaller and newer hairs that are hard to uproot the hair with the traditional methods of waxing and shaving. Regular users of the tweezers-kind-of-epilators claim that one of the most amazing features of these cordless models are its wet and dry feature. With the help of this feature, the machine can be used to epilate on the wet skin, while taking a shower. The feature is based on the logic that wet hair becomes soft and easier to uproot, thereby resulting in considerably less pain. No wonder it is deemed ideal for use on sensitive areas like the bikini area, face and underarms.
