Whatever the size of your eyes, there is little you can do to change them, because the shape of the eyes is determined genetically. All girls, though, want their eyes to stand out as a feature to be proud of. If you do have smaller eyes, it is easy to make them appear bigger with these few mak eup tricks, so check out our ten amazing ways to make even small eyes pop.
Keep your brows well groomed
The first step to making small eyes look bigger is quite simple. Keep your eyebrows neatly trimmed, because your eyebrows are the frame for your eyes. Stray hairs at the bottom of your brows are only going to make your eyes look smaller.
Use concealer on dark circles
Through dark circles under your eyes, your eyes will look smaller. Use a concealer that is a shade lighter, than your natural skin tone and it will open up your eyes and make them look bigger.
Use an eyelash curler
Curling your lashes will open up your eyes and make them look even more gorgeous. It makes your eyes stand out and so, it also makes your eyes look larger.
Use two types of mascaras to make the most of your lashes
Use a lengthening mascara and also the one that gives volume, this way you will add volume and length to your beautiful eyelashes at the same time. Try applying a coat of mascara and wait a little, until it sets, before applying another one; after about a minute, apply another coat or two, to finish the look, but this time use different type mascara. It will lengthen and thicken your lashes and hold the curl for longer.
Don’t go overboard with the eyeliner
When using eyeliner, don’t make a complete circle around your eyes with black eyeliner; keep the eyeliner to the outside lash line, from the outer corner, and extend to just two thirds of the way toward your tear ducts. With this make up trick, your eyes will be elongated and appear bigger.
Use light shades of eyeshadow
Use only light shades of eyeshadow, or even white, to open up your eyes more. If you use the lightest color of eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes, it will make your eyes appear to be a lot larger.
Use highlighter under your brow
Remember that any area of your face that you highlight will visually appear to be more prominent and larger. Highlighting under your brow will reduce the shadow and make your eyes stand out more.
Use a primer
Using a primer, before you apply eyeshadow, will make the colors stand out far more clearly and lighten up the whole area around your eyes. This is exactly what you need, if you have smaller eyes. In addition, the other bonus of using eyeshadow primer is that your makeup will last a lot longer!
Don’t forget the bottom of your eyes
While it is not a good idea to apply dark eyeliner to the bottom of your eye, you should not ignore that area altogether. A little light color applied to the bottom of your eyes will open them up even more, making them appear bigger.
Reduce any puffiness around your eyes
Puffiness around the eyes will make them smaller and closed up. Use an eye cream regularly or try splashing cold water on your face to keep the puffiness to a minimum level. The old favorites – cold tea bags or slices of cucumber – are also an effective remedy. What are our favorite makeup tips for small eyes?
